Edge Custom Carry always strives to be innovative and practical with our designs. It all starts with an idea…
With each new concept or idea for a holster, a lot of research is done to develop this concept into a final product. With our design process, we keep in mind the tactical operator, security personnel as well as the everyday carry guy (or girl). A prototype is developed. We test and change the prototype several times until we have a final product which will go for testing in the field.
As you know, all the handguns are “different”. By “different” we mean different models have different shapes, sizes and ergonomics that always have to be taken into consideration during the design and development of a new holster.
During the layout of the holster, we look at the whole spacing (drilling pattern), riding height, cant (adjustable or not), retention, loops to be used, concealment and comfortability, not only for the guys but also the ladies.
The mold prepping process starts and there are several things we take into consideration. The control surfaces (for example mag release, safety catch and slide stop leaver) need to be blocked. Friction between the gun and the holster should be just right. Too much friction will slow down your draw stroke and too little friction will cause the weapon to sit loose in the holster and rattle. We also ensure that the clearance height for the front and rear sights are correct.
The manufacturing starts and several prototypes evolve from this.
When we are satisfied, the final product will be sent for thorough testing. Feedback is given and when necessary, final changes are made and the holster gets tested again.
Although this process is described in only a few words, a lot of time and money is invested in developing a holster we can be proud of. A holster you can truly CARRY AND CONCEAL WITH CONFIDENCE.
